I brought my car in because I had a leak in my AC system and there was no refrigerant left. They recharged the AC system but did not find/fix the leak. Now the AC is out again because they did not solve the real problem of the leak. They also estimated the cost to be about $100 and then charged me over $300. I understand the first number was just an estimate, but they should’ve called me to let me know if was going to be more than triple the amount we originally agreed on. I called to see if they could do anything about the fact that they didn’t actually fix my AC leak the first time, and they told me they would just do the same thing again. I cannot afford to pay to have the freon refilled in my car every 3 months. I will not be returning to Honest One Auto Care and I can’t recommend going to them. I felt taken advantage of because they charged me triple the amount we talked about without informing me first, and did not even resolve the issue I had.
We are very sorry you feel this way Sydney. Thankfully, we keep very detailed records of all of the work we do and are able to clarify a few details relating to your visit to our shop over a year ago on May 13th 2021. Last year, we diagnosed your vehicle with a leaking Schrader Valve with your AC system. At the time of testing, your refrigerant was low or empty. At that time, it was explained to you that the $100 AC Test and Recharge included R134a coolant only. Upon inspection, we discovered your vehicle needs 1234YF refrigerant. This coolant is significantly more expensive, and we do not make repairs without confirming with the customer. With your consent, we replaced the leaking valve and refilled the refrigerant and included a dye that would allow us to identify leaks in the system. During additional testing we could not identify any leaks, or find any dye escaping the system. We understand that this situation can be frustrating. The manufacturer of your vehicle issued a Technical Service Bulletin in December 2021 indicating that they are aware that many people are experiencing the same issue that you and your vehicle are experiencing. We are very sorry to hear that your vehicle is still experiencing the same problem. However, the problem stems from the manufacturer, not the work that our shop performed. Any errors in the quality of our work would have been evident in days following your visit, not years. Because your vehicle has not been to our shop since May of last year, we suggest you contact whomever has been refilling your AC system every three months and see if they can offer any relief. We wish you good luck in finding a new service provider that will meet your needs.
