Short review: good chairs and wifi while waiting. Gave me inaccurate information regarding my car and tried to get me to have work done that was not needed. Longer review. A few months ago I needed to get an emissions test done and I came here out of convenience. While they did the emissions test I was able to work on my classwork while I waited because they have chairs and wifi—and I was pretty happy with that. At the end they told me they had checked my brakes and went into a long explanation of why I needed to get my brakes replaced asap. They kept telling me I could end up in a lot of trouble because of how bad my brakes were. Being a college student pressed for time, I did not schedule a time to get my brakes done. A few weeks later my dad came into town and took my car into the subaru dealership to have the brakes done (since I had no time during their business hours to go in myself). The subaru dealership came back and said my brakes were in great condition and were nowhere near going out. The way I see it, this car place were either trying to take advantage of a college student who doesn’t know much about cars. Or they didn’t know what they were doing/talking about. Either way, it is not good.
Hello Johanna, Thank you for taking the time to post a review. We are always looking to improve and hate that you had a bad experience. After looking at the inspection record from your vehicle. Our technicians preformed a 100 point inspection in addition to the underlying work and made recommendations based on those inspections. We typically don't ever pressure anyone to get any work done. We simply relay the information to you and let you make the decision. Our inspection of your brakes in February 2024 indicated that your front brake pads were worn down to 2/32. The rear was at 8/32 at the time. (New is 12/32) We recommend replacing anything that is 4/32 or less. 2/32 is very low. In less than ideal circumstances, brake pads this low can fail and cause catastrophic damage to both you and the vehicle. This may be why the front desk was emphatic about getting that work done. We stand by our technicians and our inspections. We would tell any customer with 2/32 left on their brake pads to get them replaced. An uncommon, but possible issue could be the pad wearing unevenly. If, a pad has worn unevenly, part of the pad could measure better than another. In these cases, technicians are instructed to report the thinnest part of the pad in order to avoid any pitfalls that may come from trusting a compromised brake pad. At the end of the day, we are truly sorry you had a bad experience but we are grateful it was checked out by another shop that you trust, and that there are no further issues.
